Up for sale, a 2008 Fender ’62 vintage reissue Stratocaster model ST62 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order . Crafted in Japan, this guitar was made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. If you’re looking to deliver plenty of Strat sparkle and cut, it’s hard to beat this particular ceramic pickup compliment. These pickups have more punch and power than the more common alnico pickups and sound distinct and clear in all positions on the five-way switch. Weighing in at 8lbs 10oz, this Strat has a bold tone with great clarity. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and strung with fresh 10-46 strings, this Strat is ready for stage and studio use.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile with decent shoulders and a smooth ambered gloss finish. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a traditional 7 1/4″ fretboard radius with flawless vintage-style fretwire. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2″ scale with no buzzing or dead spots, and the nut measures just shy of 1 11/16″ in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, and the flat pole piece pickups have more punch than the usual staggered pole variety. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back into tune with ease. The gloss three-tone Sunburst finish tops off the classic ’60s look and the chrome hardware and plastic parts are clean as can be, with uniform aging of the knobs. Cosmetically, the guitar has a flawless neck profile and the body exhibits only a few light scuffs in pick path and light patina on the jack cup and bridge saddles.
